Investors Rush for Dangote Refinery Shares as IPO Closes Tuesday
Dangote Refinery reports $22.5bn revenue, $4.73bn profit in nine months

Investors are stepping up subscriptions to the Initial Public Offering (IPO) of Dangote Petroleum Refinery & Petrochemicals as the offer enters its final days ahead of the scheduled closing on Tuesday, October 27, 2026.
The company said it had recorded increased interest from retail and institutional investors following the release of its nine-month financial results, which showed significant growth in revenue, profitability and cash generation.
It confirmed that the offer would close on Tuesday as scheduled, stressing that there would be no further extension.
Prospective investors who have yet to complete their subscriptions have therefore been advised to do so through their stockbrokers and approved distribution channels before the deadline.
The refinery's latest financial results showed revenue of $22.5 billion and net profit of $4.73 billion for the nine months ended September 30, 2026, marking a significant turnaround from the loss recorded during the corresponding period of 2025.
Revenue rose by 144 per cent year-on-year, while earnings before interest, taxes, depreciation and amortisation (EBITDA) increased to $5.5 billion.
According to the company, the performance reflected higher refining throughput, improved operational reliability and stronger refining margins.
The refinery also reported a strengthened balance sheet, moving from a net debt position to a net cash position during the period under review.
The financial results have reinforced investor interest in the offer, with the company attributing the response to confidence in its earnings performance and long-term growth prospects.
In a statement, the management said the level of participation reflected growing recognition of the refinery's financial performance and the investment opportunities associated with its operations.
"The level of investor interest we are seeing reflects growing confidence in our business and in the strong financial results we have delivered. Investors are recognising both the quality of our earnings and the long-term value creation opportunity represented by the refinery," the company said.
The company disclosed that interest in the IPO had come from a broad range of investors, including individuals, pension funds, institutional investors, asset managers, professionals, business owners and members of the African diaspora.
Subscriptions, it added, had been received from different parts of Nigeria, other African countries and international markets, highlighting the refinery's growing profile as a major industrial investment.
IPO Targets Broader Public Ownership
Beyond raising capital, the company said the IPO was designed to provide investors with an opportunity to participate directly in the ownership of one of Africa's major industrial enterprises.
Management described the offer as an opportunity to broaden participation in the refinery's future growth by bringing ordinary investors alongside institutional investors.
The company said its ownership structure was intended to make participation accessible to a wider section of the investing public, rather than restricting the opportunity to large financial institutions and high-net-worth investors.
It also highlighted the refinery's potential contribution to Africa's energy security, industrial development, regional trade and foreign-exchange generation.
According to the management, the facility should be viewed not merely as an energy investment but as an industrial platform with implications for economic activity across the continent.
"Investors recognise that this refinery is not merely an energy asset. It is a platform for industrial growth, foreign-exchange generation, regional trade, energy security and economic development across Africa," the company said.
It added that the response to the offer reflected confidence in the prospects of African-owned industrial enterprises and the capacity of African capital markets to mobilise funds for large-scale projects.
Refinery's Financial Performance Draws Attention
The reported increase in revenue and profitability has become a major feature of the IPO's final phase, particularly as investors assess the refinery's earnings capacity and prospects for sustainable returns.
The $22.5 billion revenue recorded in the nine months to September 2026 represents a 144 per cent increase over the corresponding period of the previous year.
The reported net profit of $4.73 billion also marks a significant change from the loss recorded in the same period of 2025.
Meanwhile, EBITDA of $5.5 billion provides another measure of the company's operating performance during the period.
The improvement in refining throughput and operational reliability, alongside stronger refining margins, was identified by the company as a key factor behind the results.
The movement from a net debt position to a net cash position also points to an improvement in the refinery's reported balance-sheet position.
For prospective shareholders, however, the financial performance is only one consideration in assessing the offer. Investment decisions also depend on the offer's terms, valuation, applicable risks and the company's future ability to sustain earnings and generate returns.
The company maintained that its recent performance and strategic importance had strengthened the investment case for the refinery as it approached the subscription deadline.
Final Call To Investors
With the closing date approaching, management has urged interested investors to complete their applications before the subscription window shuts on October 27.
"This is the final opportunity for investors to participate in this historic offer. We encourage all interested investors to complete their applications before the subscription window closes on 27 October," the company said.
It reiterated that the deadline was final and that no additional extension would be granted.
The management also expressed appreciation to regulators, issuing houses, stockbrokers, financial institutions, fintech partners, investor associations, market operators and members of the investing public for their contributions during the offer period.
The company said the reported demand demonstrated growing confidence in African industrial enterprises and the ability of domestic capital markets to support investments requiring substantial financial resources.
It expressed optimism that opening ownership of the refinery to public investors would strengthen the relationship between African businesses and the continent's investment community.
"History is being made. The remarkable investor response is a powerful vote of confidence in Africa's future, in African enterprise, and in the long-term value that world-class industrial projects can create when opened to public ownership," the company said.
It added that it remained committed to pursuing sustained growth and creating long-term value for shareholders.
As the IPO enters its final stretch, attention is expected to remain on the completion of subscriptions, the outcome of the offer and the refinery's capacity to sustain the strong financial performance reported for the first nine months of 2026.
