Retired IGPs, Bianca Ojukwu, Others Celebrate Frank Mba as Ex-DIG Opens Law Firm in Abuja
The unveiling of FRANK MBA LEGAL took place on Friday, October 9, 2026, at the firm's office in Wuse 2, Abuja, coinciding with Mba's birthday and marking his transition from more than three decades of police service to private legal practice.

Retired Inspectors-General of Police Mohammed Dahiru Abubakar and Usman Alkali Baba, Minister of Foreign Affairs Bianca Odumegwu-Ojukwu and other prominent Nigerians have joined family members, associates and well-wishers to celebrate former Deputy Inspector-General of Police (DIG), Frank Mba, as he formally unveiled his law firm in Abuja.

The unveiling of FRANK MBA LEGAL took place on Friday, October 9, 2026, at the firm's office in Wuse 2, Abuja, coinciding with Mba's birthday and marking his transition from more than three decades of police service to private legal practice.
The event attracted several prominent personalities from the police, political, religious and business communities, including Pastor Jerry Eze, convener of the New Season Prophetic Prayers and Declarations (NSPPD); Chief Sir Emeka Offor, Chairman of Chrome Group; and retired Deputy Inspector-General of Police Sadiq Abubakar.
Also in attendance were retired DIG Tijani Baba and retired DIG Dan Kwara, alongside members of the National Assembly and three serving Deputy Inspectors-General of Police: Ekene Onwuemeelie, Isiyaku Abubakar and Suleiman Mohammed.
The gathering brought together serving and retired senior police officers, underscoring Mba's longstanding connections within the Nigeria Police Force and his continued engagement with public service after his retirement.
Addressing guests at the ceremony, Mba said the establishment of his law firm was motivated by his desire to continue contributing to society by combining his legal education with the professional experience he acquired during his years in the police.
He described retirement as an opportunity to serve in a different capacity, adding that his experience in leadership, discipline, conflict management and the administration of justice would inform his approach to legal practice.
“Retirement is not the end of service; it is an opportunity to serve in a different capacity. My years in the Nigeria Police Force provided me with invaluable experience in leadership, discipline, conflict management and the administration of justice. I intend to bring these lessons, alongside my legal training, into this new chapter,” he said.
The former police spokesman stressed that his vision for the firm extended beyond the provision of legal services, noting that the practice would be guided by the principles of professionalism, integrity, justice and the protection of individual rights.
“For me, the law is not merely a profession; it is an instrument for protecting rights, resolving disputes, upholding justice and strengthening confidence in our institutions.
“At FRANK MBA LAW, our ambition is to build a practice that clients can trust and that consistently upholds the highest standards of professional conduct,” Mba said.
His remarks reflected his stated intention to draw on the knowledge of law enforcement, public communication and institutional administration acquired during his police career to build a legal practice focused on client confidence and professional standards.
Mba retired from the Nigeria Police Force in March 2026, having served for 34 years and risen to the rank of Deputy Inspector-General of Police.
He was widely associated with police communication and public engagement, having served three times as the Force Public Relations Officer (FPRO), a position that placed him at the forefront of the police's public communication during different periods of his career.
His other assignments included serving as Police Public Relations Officer in Lagos State and Commissioner of Police in Ogun State, as well as occupying other strategic positions within the Force.
As a member of the police management team, Mba was also responsible for the Department of Training and Development, where his responsibilities included contributing to the professional development of police personnel.
His experience in public communication and institutional leadership formed significant parts of a career that spanned operational policing, administration, training and engagement with the public.
Beyond Nigeria, Mba participated in international peacekeeping operations as a member of the Nigerian Police contingent to the United Nations Mission in Liberia between 2006 and 2007. His service earned him a United Nations Medal.
His transition into private legal practice is also backed by an academic background in law, which he pursued alongside his career in public service.
He obtained his Bachelor of Laws degree from the University of Lagos before proceeding to the Nigerian Law School, where he distinguished himself as an award winner. He subsequently earned a Master of Laws degree from the University of Dundee, Scotland, graduating with distinction.
Mba was called to the Nigerian Bar in 2002, giving him a legal qualification that preceded his retirement from policing by more than two decades.
The opening of FRANK MBA LEGAL therefore represents a new professional phase for the former police chief, bringing together his legal training and extensive experience in law enforcement and public administration.
His decision to establish the firm also marks a transition from a career in which he represented the police institution in public communication and held senior command and management responsibilities to one in which he will practise law in a private capacity.
While his police career involved enforcing the law, managing public expectations and contributing to the administration of the Force, his new role will centre on legal practice, with an emphasis on protecting rights, resolving disputes and upholding professional ethics, according to his remarks at the unveiling.
The ceremony, which combined the formal opening of the office with his birthday celebration, provided an opportunity for colleagues, friends and associates to acknowledge his years in public service and celebrate his entry into a new professional undertaking.
For Mba, the opening of FRANK MBA LEGAL signals his intention to remain active in public life through a different professional platform, drawing on the experience accumulated during 34 years in the Nigeria Police Force while pursuing the practice of law.
